Eqaulity, Diversity and Inclusion Policy

This policy was developed in response to the revised HCPC standards, which come into effect on 1st September 2023.  

At SIRPA we are dedicated to promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). Our practitioners, including Georgie Oldfield MSCP, are committed to ensuring a high standard of service and care to each of their clients. 

This means that our practitioners are required to recognise the impact of culture, equality and diversity on their practice, and to practice in an inclusive and non-discriminatory manner. 

Moreover, SIRPA practitioners are required to respond appropriately to the needs of clients, recognising that this can be impacted by difference of any kind, including protected characteristics, intersectional experiences and marginalised identities.  

This is demonstrated through an implementation of the following: 

  • SIRPA practitioners are required to operate in an inclusive manner towards all LGBTQ+ individuals, and to offer treatment regardless of sexual orientation or gender.  
  • At SIRPA, we understand that some clients may feel more comfortable having a chaperone present. If you would like to bring along a chaperone to your sessions, please contact your practitioner to arrange this. 
  • We are committed to removing barriers to communication wherever possible. If you need to bring along an interpreter to your sessions, please contact your practitioner to arrange this.  
  • Many of our practitioners are based in accessible locations. If you have accessibility requirements, please contact your practitioner to discuss this so that any reasonable adjustments can be made. 

Furthermore, SIRPA practitioners are committed to respecting the rights, dignity, values and autonomy of the service user.  

We seek to centralise the role of the service user in the following ways: 

  • Clients are asked to complete an assessment at the beginning of their work with a practitioner, so that the support can be tailored to their specific needs. 
  • The client is involved in any decisions regarding options or goals, and these are reviewed regularly.
